Every point (a,b) of the dual space represents a straight line from the primal space. For instance, (a,b) can parametrize the line y=ax-b. The dual of a curve is computed by mapping its tangents to the dual space.

Remark: Polar is not exactly a dual representation because the dual of the dual is not the primal. But it makes pretty shapes.
